Recovering a vehicle from the pound

The procedure may differ depending on the reason for the impoundment.

The different stages

Vehicle registration certificate
Driving license
Event number or report

In the event of vehicle seizure (Police/SAAQ)
Additional documents or authorization may be required.

Recovery of property

The owner of the vehicle or his representative (with a valid power of attorney) may recover the property inside the vehicle during the opening hours of the pound (see schedule below).

It is not possible to recover objects attached to or integrated into the vehicle or used for its operation.
Certain assets may be withheld if they are related to an ongoing investigation.
